Nutmeg's voice rung out across the kitchen despite how soft spoke the elf was. "Could ya' take this up stairs, sweetie." The redhead gave a nod, she passed the trays over && he took it from his Mama's hands. With two hands filled with plates piled high with chicken legs && green beans. Over the years of helping his mama work in the kitchen Nat had learned the art of balancing && keeping himself up right without falling && spilling everything. So the walk up the stone steps was effetely easy. The room was slowly filling up with students leaving from their last classes of the day, these last two dishes && the tables would be ready && dinner could be served. "Go on now get something to eat, we can finish up."
"But- "
"No but's, Mister. Go eat."
She gave him a small push forward && a small smile. He reluctantly started moving out of the kitchen, his back hit something- no, someone. It was Lefty. "Hey ! Watch where yer goin', Nat." Lefty was a grumpy && old house elf who was normally mean to pretty much everyone she came in contact with. But the old elf had a soft spot for Nat, since she helped raise him. "shoot, I'm, ah, I'm sorry, Miss. Lefty, ma'am." He gave a sheepish smile, bending over to help pick up the broken glass. "It's fine, kid. Go eat somethin' ya' lookin' thinner everyday." Chocolate hues glanced back, the house elf moved her hand in a 'shooing' moment. The climb up from the hustle && bustle of the kitchen but was nothing compered to the deafening roar of the dining hall- the first sounds that reach his ears are loud, bombing voices of the student body chattering away to their friends- it echos off the walls. Everything is a bit louder for Nat infesting his mind && ringing in his ears && crawling under his skin. Raking pale fingers through messy red hair, trying to smooth it out. Breathe in. Breathe out. 1, 2, 3. It was easy for Nat to become overwhelmed && everything becomes to much for him to handle && he'd have to go somewhere dark && quiet to calm down. After a few minutes of forcing himself to calm- okay ! Time to make a new friend. His mama always said 'kindness goes a long way.' Chocolate hues scanned the dining hall, before his eyes landed on a boy sitting alone with a stack of book piled high around him, his nose buried in a book && he seemed to be in his only little world. Nat had never spoken to him, but he knew his name- Sebastian Rosegrove.
The Hufflepuff loved making friends && getting to know new people, so with a wide smile across his lips, he strolled over to boy. "Hiya ! I'm Nat- whatcha readin'" He asked, glancing down at the book in his hands. The boy never once looked up at him, but this didn't seem to deter him from continuing to run his mouth. He just wanted to be his friend or at least get his grumpy expression to change into a slight happy-ish one. Nat was blissfully unaware that this boy didn't want to have a conversion. "Um, I saw ya' in Herbology and noticed you were kinda stugglin'." He paused. "If you- If you wanted help I could, like, totally help ya'." A small smile reached his lips. But he just continued to ignore him. But that didn't bother Nat, he was use to people ignoring him or being rude- ( that weird kid who was raised by a house elf. ) But he never let those things get to him, he always kept smiling, which he knew upset the ones who bullied him. Plopping himself down on the opposite side of the table, propping himself up on his elbows. "You don't talk much do ya'?" He said nothing. A frown twitched at the corner of his lips, but he never let his smile fade. His eyes flicker to the ground before moving back up to Sebastian, the air felt heavy && a bit awkward, Nat drummed his fingers against the worn out wooden table, his stomach growled, warmth painted his cheeks, but you couldn't hear it over the roar of the dining hall- he really should be eating. His Mama would be very upset.
The dining hall was beginning to clear out, meaning dinner was over. Before he could move from his spot his Mama's voice rang through the air, cutting the conversion short or rather his conversion. "Nat- ! Come help me clean up and wash the dishes." Nat gave a small wave before totting off to help with the cleaning up."See ya' in Herbology." He swear he saw Sebastian roll his eyes. "I see you made a new friend." She patted his back, since she was to small to ruffle his messy mop of hair.
"Yeah, maybe."
